Custodian role for us on planet

The weather has dominated our lives during these last two weeks and we have been balancing the sheer beauty of the snow with the considerable inconvenience it causes to our mobility.

But all this pales into insignificance when compared with the apocalyptic devastation of Haiti by the earthquake.

Haiti needs the world's help in every form of aid and no doubt we will have an opportunity to donate towards the emergency through our charities.

The earthquake has nothing to do with global warming but scientists predict that global warming will soon bring more environmental crises to the poorest nations with floods, drought and famine.

It can all seem gloom and doom but every crisis brings opportunity and can encourage the best aspects of our humanity.

The Christian view of the world emphasises our stewardship of planet earth and being responsible custodians of the world resources.

God's great goodness in providing the resources of the world as a gift to humanity is to be received, celebrated, enjoyed and handled in hope and love.
