Quiet Time with God

Lots of people lead very busy lives. There always seems to be so much to do, and mobile phones and laptops can keep us ‘connected’ and up-to-date with much that is going on in the world. News is accessible 24 hours a day, and it’s possible to find out what friends and family are doing on the other side of the world with just a few clicks of a computer mouse.

Many Christians find that a ‘quiet time’ each day, of reading the Bible and prayer, is essential in their walk of faith. Lent began on Wednesday 17th February, and this can also be a special time of reflection and review for many people. This ‘quiet time’ is a disconnection from outside distractions, in order to connect with God.

The words of Psalm 23 are familiar to many. They say that God ‘makes me [us] lie down in green pastures, He leads me [us] beside quiet waters.’ He will then restore us and guide us in paths of righteousness. We will become closer to Him.

It’s good to set aside time for God each day, to connect with Him and to thank Him for all He has done. It’s time that is very well spent.
