The Special One

At the recent Champions League Final, Inter Milan, managed by the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, beat Bayern Munich to become the football champions of Europe. Jose Mourinho has now won the Champions League with two different clubs and his team won the treble this season by also winning the Italian league and cup.

Mourinho may be a top football manager, but to those of us who are Christians (even those of us who love our football) he is not the ‘Special One’. We have our own hero who we regard as the ‘Special One’. Why do we think this? Well…

Who is our ‘Special One’? He is Jesus Christ, our Saviour. He was also special because he loved his enemies; the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans Chapter 5:

“For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”

Jose Mourinho may be a great manager, but Jesus was the greatest of all men, special in every way!
