1 December 2010: John Studd, Web Master, PACT web site and member of Life Church Petersfield

Web Sites ... the Church Notice Boards of the 21st Century?

Thursday night - Bring and Share Supper. Prayer and medication to follow ... For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs ... This afternoon there will be a meeting in the south and north end of the church. Children will be baptised at both ends.

There don't seem to be so many Church Notice Boards around these days, and we miss the chance of seeing some howlers like those above. Instead, each of the churches that are members of PACT - Petersfield Area Churches Together - have their own web site and there is also a web site for PACT itself: www.pact.org.uk.

These web sites provide more than just a brief notice about the next week's meeting and the PACT web site is proactive: visitors are invited to join an email group for one or more of the churches and linked organisations - more than 30 all together.

Once people sign up to email groups they receive an email whenever that church or organisation has planned, or completed, an activity. This keeps people in touch with what is going on in their church, other churches in and around Petersfield and the organisations that are linked to PACT.

The PACT web site is well into its second year and is already building up an archive of reports on activities that took place last year and earlier this year, including videos and photographs. If you haven't visited it yet - why not do so today!

Jesus was a supreme communicator, using parables to tell people the good news that is the Gospel. Inspired by his example and love we are now communicating that same Gospel by means appropriate to our times.
