Hide and seek with God

Do you remember playing Hide and Seek as a child - or maybe as a parent or grandparent? Do you remember the sense of anticipation in searching for the other person and the excitement of being found?

Many of us believe that there is a God, even if we haven't found him yet. We can see the evidence all around us in nature but somehow we avoid a personal encounter with the creator and prefer to muddle through on our own.

God has said in the Bible (Jeremiah 29: 13-14), "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you and bring you back from captivity." This is an invitation and a promise. Extraordinarily, God is playing the child role here. He will not force His way into your life but invites you to look for Him. However, in case you have trouble knowing where to look, He does give the occasional hint: Jesus says (Revelation 3: 20), "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

If you or someone you know have sensed God knocking at your door and would like to find Him, an Alpha course is an excellent opportunity to do so. The next course starts in Petersfield on Wednesday 26th January at Bulmer House. Please phone 01730 893394 for more details or visit the Alpha Course page on this web site
