Do you want to live forever?

Melanie Evans, Reader at St Peter’s Church“Fame, I wanna live forever”, is a line from a famous song. Do we live forever? Where do we go when we die? Are we afraid of dying? Some believe that when we die that is it. Our lives are over. Nothing lies ahead. My life changed in 1993 when I had a dream of Jesus telling me how I could live forever. But I had to make a choice to follow Him to make this happen. We sometimes follow the wrong road and do not reach our destination. Jesus says in John 14, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no one comes to the Father except by me.”

How do we know we will live forever if we make a choice to follow Jesus? What proof do we have that Heaven exists? There was a period of 40 days between Jesus death and His entry into Heaven when many independent witnesses saw Jesus. Later, as he was dying, Saint Stephen was given encouragement by God who showed him what heaven looked like and with Jesus seated beside him. There are many people since who have had experiences of seeing Jesus, or been comforted by Him during times of suffering.

If you are feeling afraid of the future and want to ask some questions, why not talk to friends who go to church.
