Psalm 23

Where do you stand? Is your glass half full or half empty, or maybe it is just a certain amount of wine in the glass? Are you an optimist, pessimist or a realist? As Christians our faith teaches us there is an added dimension to this, our glass is full to overflowing. No matter what life brings we know we have someone who will hold us up in the dark times and laugh with us in the good; someone who loves us so much that He will never allow us to stumble or fall.

All this we know from Psalm 23, God is our Shepherd. He is with us as we go on our pilgrim journey. It is God that brings us refreshment, comfort and support all the way, if we open ourselves to these blessings. There is a good reason why this Psalm is so loved and used for all occasions from marriage to funeral. It declares so clearly how cherished we are by God that he will never leave us no matter what we do; He is there beside us to the end.

'Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us always to the end of our days'.
