Jesus is the answer

One hundred years ago, the Mexican song writer and composer, Manuel Esperón González, was born. He wrote many famous songs in Mexico, he produced music for a Walt Disney film, and he received many awards in the USA for his song writing. He died, aged 99, in February of this year.

What is it that inspires people to be creative and to bring such pleasure to so many people? Whether it is music, art, literature, poetry, drama, television, architecture or whatever, these things are very important in our world and they play a part in many, many lives.

About 3000 years ago, King Solomon built the Temple for God. It inspired him completely. It was intended to be perfect, and God kept his promise, that He would live among His people. The Israelites were 'joyful and glad in heart' for all the things that God had done. It seemed that things couldn't be any better.

However, the Israelites were conquered and went into exile because they turned away from God. The Temple was destroyed. Then God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, into the world, to restore the relationship between God and man.

Pleasure in life is something that all of us desire. However, like the Temple, it is only temporary. But following Jesus is eternal, and every bit as pleasurable. Only He has all the answers to the issues and problems in the world, and only He can bring wholeness and satisfaction in all that we seek to do.
