I need the wisdom of Solomon!

This is a concept from the Bible which has entered our everyday speech when we are faced with with situations beyond our human understanding. How true this is today when the leaders of our nation are faced with complex issues on every side, both domestic and international. Is it reasonable for us to expect them to be able to come up with solutions to everything?

Solomon showed his wisdom firstly by knowing that in his human strength alone he was not able to carry out his kingly duties. He therefore asked God for His wisdom and received this abundantly. So much so that it is recorded that he was wiser than any other man and his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.

In one of his letters, Saint Paul urges that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. Do we criticise our leaders? Let us pray for them! And pray for a return to godliness in our nation.
