What are our priorities?

The political party conferences have just ended as I write this. How to deal with the economy seems to be the main issue which was discussed. Without doubt, the economic downturn does impact all of us, particularly those who have lost their jobs. But Jesus said ‘Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?’ He knows we need these things but said ‘Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well’.

It is instructive to note that when the Lord God appeared to king Solomon in a dream and said ‘Ask for whatever you want me to give you’, Solomon did not ask for riches, but for wisdom to rule and for knowledge to distinguish between right and wrong. God was so pleased with his answer that He gave him wisdom and riches as well!!!

Do we pray for our leaders to have wisdom and godliness? It is easy for us to be arm chair politicians, or to grumble about our leaders, but can we expect to have good government unless we pray?
