11th November 2011: Judith Bee, St Mary, Buriton

On 11th November each year, Armistice Day, we remember!

We remember those who lost their lives in both world wars and other conflicts since; we remember those who sadly continue to do so.

Remembering them is important, not only because what they gave mustn't be forgotten, but because it is part of our story, the story of this land, our his-story. It is also the story of our communities. This will be well illustrated by all those who on Sunday, will gather together to read out individual names from their own community at war memorials throughout the district.

Remembering reminds us we belong to that particular community, that we belong to this nation; we are part of its story.

Whenever Christians meet together for worship we remember!

We remember Jesus and what he did for us all on the cross. We remember and celebrate God's huge love for his world. We remember as we read his Word together and as we share in the bread and wine of the Eucharist. We remember God's promise that through Jesus he will be with us always

This remembering is important because we are part of this story, part of God's story.

The climax of God's story is "God so loved the world that he sent his only Son." John 3:16

God's love is for everyone; everyone can be a part of God's story.
