A Drop in the Ocean

At work we currently have a quote by Mother Teresa on display.

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

This relates to the charity we support.

Giving money or time is always a difficult decision. However if we all saved one penny every day, millions of pennies could be saved to make a positive difference to the lives of others.

The same formula can be applied to time. If we all gave a minute of our day to help someone else, how much time could we accumulate over a year?

Everyone complains that they don’t have enough money or time. Maybe it’s an appropriate time of year to re-evaluate how we spend our money and minutes.

We may not all be able to give huge amounts of money like some celebrities mentioned in the New Year’s Honours’ List. However we can all do small things that can make a big difference to others. If you haven’t made a resolution this year perhaps you could give some of your money or time and be another drop in the ocean.

To finish another quote from Mother Teresa: “Be faithful in small things because it is them that your strength lies.”
