6 June 2012: David Bee, St Mary Buriton

Take Comfort

As I write we have just said farewell to Madam Comfort Appiah, from our link parish of St Andrew's in Dominase, Ghana. She has been staying with us for two weeks as a guest of the Buriton Village to Village group. Her trip very nearly didn't happen. It was only because of the strenuous efforts of Mary and Terry Owens, and lots of prayer support, that she got her Visa to travel, with only minutes to spare!

Our church community has been privileged, during her stay, to have her worship with us in St Mary's. She is a lady of deep faith and commitment both to God and to her community in Dominase. She has enriched our lives by her presence. Any idea that we, living in the relative riches of Hampshire, are in any way more important than Ghanaians from Dominase is clearly wrong. Gods love is not conditional on whether we have houses with running water, flush toilets and reliable electricity, good quality free education for all, accessibility to reliable transportation, access to doctors and hospitals.

At Pentecost God poured out his Spirit on all people. All people are of equal value in God's eyes; rich and poor, educated and uneducated, male and female, young and old, straight and gay, African and English. We are all made in the image of God and He loves us all.
