Kingdom Kids at Herne Junior School
Becky Farr, Ali Udall and Louise Jerome lead this weekly Bible Club at Herne Junior School at lunchtimes on Tuesday in term time. Approximately thirty children attended regularly and were introduced to Bible stories, Christian principles and values.
In September 2010, the team changed and Miss Lauren Preston began to join in and make connections with the children. She is now working on the Kings Arms Project. Mrs. Tong, from Froxfield Church, one of the longest standing teachers in the school realised I need help with it and has now volunteered consistently for nearly a whole term. Rob Dewing, vicar of St Mary Magdalen, Sheet, is involved when time allows.
This Easter term 2011,we are concentrating on prayer, and teaching the children how to use the Lord’s Prayer. We are glad to say that we have visits from Andrew Bulmer who is talking to the children about God and how God has answered his prayers. The presence of the club has definitely created a godly atmosphere within the school. The introduction of children’s own prayers using a prayer box is starting up this term and prayers will be offered up to God in assembly.
Please continue with your prayer support, it makes all the difference and moves mountains in the heavenly places which will translate to us on the earth. We are seeing children come to a real living and active faith as we share the gospel message, remembering that God’s word does not return to him empty. Please pray that Satan will not snatch the truth away from these children, some of whom come from unbelieving families.
At Easter I would like to try and produce a short Passion Play with the children in the hope we might be able to bring it to an assembly.
Very Special thanks must go to both Becky Farr and Louise Jerome, both of whom got the club up and running brilliantly.
Mrs. Tong is a wonderful Christian lady already working at the Herne Junior School and seems to have clear vision as to how to go ahead with the Kingdom Kids group. She, being a teacher has more influence than I and she and I are planning a short passion play to practice with the children so they can see the impact of the cross, this Easter. Please pray for us as we find or write a script that will have the full story, the Last Supper , cross and death of Jesus to the resurrection, with out allowing political correctness to remove from the true implications. We have permission to run with this at a special Easter assembly. '
In the meantime, we must have had, around 30 children in the library waiting to hear Andrew Bulmer talk a on, Give us today our daily bread, 'and how
practically he had helped the poor and destitute in India. After this, we had some bread dough and baked bread rolls for members of the club.
God is good all the time, and the children are getting this message!!
